1) What is an advertising campaign?
A campaign that promotes something
2) What is the objective of the NHS Represent campaign?
To get more people from the BAME to donate blood.
3) What does this advert want people to do once they've seen it (the 'call to action')?
They want them to donate blood or encourage more people to donate blood.
4) Why is the advert called 'Represent'?
Because it wants us to represent the BAME community.
5) Why have the producers chosen celebrities to feature in the advert? Give an example of three well- known people who appear in the advert and why they are famous - make sure you write their names and spell them accurately.
So their fans will be inspired to donate their blood- Lady Leshurr who is famous for her freestyling rap style and has her own clothing line, Ade Adepitan who is a basketball player in a wheelchair
6) What are the connotations of the slow-paced long shot of empty chairs at the end of the advert?
There are no people from the BAME donating blood who could fit the chairs, could also mean people are dying because of the lack of people donating, which is why they are empty.
7) How does the advert match the key conventions of a typical urban music video?
It includes mise-en-scene
This is because they have close up shots in the hip-hop artists to imply the powerful tone in the rappers emotion. There is also a sense of direct contact to the camera which relates commonly to the audience and how they tend to9 do the same as the rappers.
It is set in London which is a urban city

Subverts age stereotypes as represents young people as scientists.
Subverts disability stereotypes as it represents disabled people doing sports.

Reinforces gender and masculinity stereotypes as the man is a footballer.
10) Choose one key moment from the advert and write an analysis of the connotations of camera shots and mise-en-scene (CLAMPS).
One key moment is the shot at the close up shot of the chairs at the end, this shows the main idea of the advert encouraging the BAME community to come fill the chairs and donate their blood. This scene could also connote people dyeing and not being able to fill out the chairs because of the lack of blood donors.
