Audience Effects Theory

     Audience Effects Theories

1) The definition of a passive audience is the view that audiences passively take in information from the         media and these messages have the same effect on everyone

2) The definition of an active audience is the more and generally accepted view that audiences interact             with and make conscious choices regarding the media they consume

3) The definition of hypodermic needle theory is the suggestion that audiences are always passive and            therefore take the intended message from the producer as if it was injected into their minds

4) Information/surveillance: Times newspaper - it tells audiences important information about the world
Personal identity: Spiderman Homecoming - it shows Peter Parker in high school
Diversion/ entertainment: Prison Break - its entertaining and distracts you from real life
Relationships: Ironman movies - To follow RDJ because they care about the character or celebrity

Blue Planet clip
The blue planet clip provides the audience with information about the world under the ocean that they probably did not already know, and if your a fan of the life under sea it could give you visceral pleasure. The clip is also a way to escape from reality as it creates a calm and relaxing environment watching the types of different animals through hidden cameras, allowing you to become worry free whilst watching the journey of the sea through David Attenborough, and if you want to keep up with his work and documentaries, watching this is necessary.
