demographics and psychographics

Demographics and Psychographics 1) What information do media companies use to create a demographic profile of their audience? They use their demographic classification ( Age,  Gender,  Education,  Social class,  Race/ethnicity,  Job/profession/earnings,  Home (city/village/countryside) 2) Why are media companies and advertisers increasingly using audience profiling and not just demographics? Because the demographic results of modern Britain are not as accurate as they need them to be to reach the right audience so they use audience profiling. 3) What are the seven different Psychographic groups?  The seven different groups are: The aspirer, The explorer, The reformer, The mainstreamer, The struggler, The resigned and The succeeder. 4) Write a brief summary of what each Psychographic group is seeking or motivated by. camera movement and editing

Minority report clip Camera movement 0:58 - Handheld The camera is handheld, which added a lot of urgency and pace to the scene, the director might have used this scene to make the audience feel a sense of suspense and the shaky camera might have made the audience feel like a part of the chase. 1:02 - Pan The camera is tilted to the left following the character's movement, the director uses this camera movement to show the audience where the character is running too and also some of the sorroundings are shown. 2:51 - Tilt  The camera is tilted down from a fixed point to make the character look weak using a high angle, the director chose this camera movement to make the audience feel suspense as the character is stuck and does not know what to do at the moment. Editing 0:37 - Juxtaposition The camera shots are parallel editing, 2 shots are placed together and they created an eye line match, which might make the audience feel like the 2 characters are somehow linked to eachother. 2:1...

Blog feedback and learner response

Blog feedback + learner response Feedback: WWW: You’ve made an excellent start in GCSE Media – well done! I really like your opening questions with regards to your interest in the impact of social media and also looking forward to our Marvel study (coming up just before Christmas!) In terms of creative work, your fruit bowl is absolutely stunning – you’ve captured the winter palette beautifully. Keep up the good work!    EBI: One piece of work missing – the mise-en-scene Stranger Things analysis. Is it in drafts or were you absent for this? With GCSE work you still need to catch up even if you missed a lesson. LR response: I feel like my strongest piece of media so far is my fruit bowl as I think I have done the winter theme really well on the fruit bowl. I think my weakest piece of media so far is my camera work blog task as I did not know how the explain it well. I need to develop my explaining skills.

Stranger things analysis

Mise-en-scene: Stranger Things Analysis Costume: At the beginning of the clip, the character is wearing a white lab coat which indicates him being a scientist, the 4 characters are all wearing bright coloured 80s style clothes which indicates to the audience that they are young , and the 2 parents are wearing less bright coloured clothes, which indicates them being older and more sophisticated. Lightning: In the first clip there are flashing and flickering lights which suggest to the audience that there is danger coming or something, afterwards, the scene changes and there are very dim lights suggesting that its calm. At the end the singular light bulb shines really bright which might be suggesting the danger won. Setting: At the beginning in the first clip, the setting is at a long hallway, and its very dark which makes the audience want to know more about what the character is doing there and it also makes the audience feel a sense of eerieness. 5:25 onwards, the character is a...

camera work blog task

Camera work Doctor Who: The opening is a medium close up shot (MCU) as it shows from head to waist, this shows the lady talking to her friends online, and also showing us some of her sorroundings. On the time 0:31 , there is a close up shot of the girls face as you can see the top of her head to her chin, to show how she feels through her expressions which are agitated. while she is speaking into the camera. On the time 3:45 , there is an establishing shot showing space, to show where the radio signal is travelling to and just how strong it is. 3:30  is a high angle shot looking down at the man, making him look powerless and short compared to creation he is looking up at, this makes the audience worry and want to know what is going to happen next as the character looks scared and he has no power in this situation. One aspect of mise-en-scene in the clip is the costume, at 2:44 the actors are wearing work suits which has connotations to a formal workplace.
